Govt of India Black Listed two UAE Ship Owners who practice Slavery & Human Trafficking. There had been several instances where non payment of salary was reported from these two ship owners. Also working and living condition on ships owned by these two ship owners has been found horrible. After getting multiple complaints Director General of Shipping has black listed these two UAE based ship owners.
1. Shah Al Arab Marine agency
2. ALCO Shipping LLC
Any Indian shipping company or Maritime Training Institutes or Indian Seafarers found working with them will be penalised.
Indian Seafarers are required to be extra careful while going abroad to join a ship. There is a huge increase in instances where ship owners are not paying salary to the Seafarers. Once a seafarer goes on ship he gets stuck in Slavery like conditions. Owners are not paying salary and also not providing basic amenities like food and water onboard.
Last year Government of India has rescued more than 3000 sailors from UAE only from these type of dead ships.
Indian sailors should go through authorized RPSL agents only to join a ship abroad. It is advised to keep your family and friends informed about your location and condition.
