“The film is based on true story based on pirates attack on the Merchant ship in Gulf of Aden area, and is told through the eyes of a young Indian sailor, who faced the attack and passed through that horror. It is a thrilling, dramatic and emotional journey.”
“I just jumped at it because it has the potential to be a tense hostage drama cum survival story, and lets you explore Somalia and maritime piracy, a world hitherto unseen in Hindi films.”
Renowned director Vinil Matthew has been roped in to direct this drama based on true events.
Over the past few months, the director of the movie Vinil has done intensive research on the Indian merchant navy life, as well as on the Somali piracy problem and its impact on the many Indian families that have been affected by it. Since the piracy problem has started in the Gulf of Aden area, Merchant ships have seen almost 3000 piracy attacks in last couple of years. I many cases Indians not only faced these attacks but also have been hijacked by the Somalian pirates. The kind of torture and horror sailors have faced during their captivity days are needed to be shown to the world to understand the gravity of the problem.
Hollywood has already produced a movie on this topic and the movie Captain Phillips has been a big hit.
